criminal appeals and postconviction is all i do

I founded Timothy A. Doman, Esq., PLLC, to focus my practice exclusively on Michigan criminal appeals and postconviction cases. It’s what I enjoy doing, and I don’t want to do anything else. I also like to think that I do it pretty well. Or at least I’ve been able to get excellent results for many of my clients.

I’m not like other attorneys. I don’t take every case that walks through my door. I like to keep my caseload small so I can give each client and their case the individual attention it deserves. I value the relationships I’m able to build with my clients and their families. I keep in touch with many of my clients even years after I’ve finished handling their case.

An initial consultation with me is always free, friendly, and confidential. And you’re never on the clock. The consultation doesn’t end until all your questions are answered, however long that takes.

After the initial consultation, if I think there’s a chance I can help you, we can start working on a game plan together. If I don’t think there’s a legitimate chance that I can help you, however, I will not take your case.

One more thing—I’m a one-man show. If you call my office, you get me, not a legal secretary. Not that there’s anything wrong with legal secretaries. I just find that most clients, before they even come in for an initial consultation, have a lot of questions about the specifics of their case and whether I can help them. These are questions only a lawyer can answer. Also, being a solo practitioner allows me to control 100% of my practice. Nothing falls through the cracks because a subordinate forgot to relay a message to me.

Now to the biographical information. I obtained my bachelor’s degree with high distinction from the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Then I went to law school at Wayne State University Law School in Detroit, where I graduated cum laude.

I started my legal career as a prehearing attorney with the Michigan Court of Appeals. There, I worked on numerous cases, both criminal and civil, learning the ins and outs of appellate practice. I also got an inside look at how cases are processed and reviewed by the Court of Appeals.

This experience served me well when I entered private practice with Grabel & Associates, where I learned under Scott Grabel, one of the most renowned criminal defense attorneys in Michigan. I initially handled cases both at the trial level and appeal level, but I eventually focused my practice around criminal appeals and postconviction matters.

Since going into private practice, I have been fortunate to score several victories for my clients, including getting convictions overturned on appeal at both the Michigan Court of Appeals and Michigan Supreme Court.

I live in Dearborn with my wife and our two kids. We attend mass at the Church of the Divine Child in Dearborn.
