Appeals After a Plea

Approximately 95% of criminal cases in the United States end with the defendant pleading guilty under the terms of plea bargain. There are a lot of reasons for this, both good and (mostly) bad. Suffice it to say that there is often enormous pressure on defendants to “take the deal.”

A lot of clients think that if they accept a plea deal that means they won’t have the opportunity to appeal. Not true. You do still have options, albeit limited options. Some clients want to try to get their sentence reduced. Other clients want to get out of their plea deal altogether. Either option may be possible in the right case.

I have successfully obtained relief for clients with plea-based convictions. In one recent case, I was able to get my client’s sentence reduced by 2 years. Contact me today to discuss your plea-based case.
